AU, an abbreviation for African Union, is an IGO which aims to spread peace and prosperity amongst the African countries, that is, the entire continent. It is headquartered in Addis Ababa Ethiopia and it was established in 2002. It has 54 member nations amongst which it aims to promote political and economic integration. Further, it aims to promote economic development and remove poverty to ultimately improve Africa as a continent. Some of the achievements of the OAU as highlighted everywhere include settlements over border disputes amongst those of Morocco and Algeria dating back to 1963-64 and others. Besides that, AU has managed events in South Africa along with advocated for the economic sanctions placed upon those who were against the country until the apartheid movement came into force.
