The Pacific Community was founded in 1947 by six developed countries, namely, Netherlands, France, UK, US, Australia and New Zealand. It is headquartered in Nouméa, New Caledonia. Its working languages include French and English. Its main operations include provision of scientific and technical advice as well as funding projects from nations that donate. It is important to note that Pacific Community is not a trading bloc and has nothing to do with security or military issues. It addresses issues like food security, climate change, agriculture, fisheries, disaster management as well as water resources management. It also provides training and assistance to ensure effective functioning of marine and human resources of the region.
