Asia is the largest continent out of all the seven continents, both by size and population. It covers an approximate sq km of 44,579,000, while the tabulated population is 4,436,224,000. The total number of countries in Asia are 48. This continent covered one-third of earth’s landmass, out of which it has 30% of the world’s land area and 60% of population. The world’s largest country, Russia is situated within Asia, along with world’s most populous countries are too, located in Asia, namely, China and India.
Interestingly, the continent has about 10 highest peaks of the world within it, including Mount Everest as well as the Great Wall of China. The major religions practiced within this continent include, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism. Also, Harappan civilization and the Chinese civilization were born in Asia. The major animals in the continent include, tiger, yaks, panda. Besides that, the smallest independent state in Asia is known as Maldives, which too, is popularly regarded as a holiday getaway.
