The OIC, an abbreviation for Organization of Islamic Cooperation was founded in 1969, comprising of 57 member states. It is headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and has many subsidiaries. Its main goal is to provide grounds for the collective voice of the Muslim world while also safeguarding their interests and maintaining international peace. Its member states have majority of Islamic states. It has three official languages including, Arabic, English and French.
Further, it is to be noted that the OIC is considered to be one of the largest IGOs and is considered to be second after the United Nations. Though it has a large size of representation, it is also one of the most under researched IGO. It strives to achieve its primary objective which is to enhance trade cooperation between its members to reach the Islamic economic integration which will lead to creation of Islamic Common market.
